Facebook Acquires Nextstop The Local Recommendation Service

Facebook has acquired Nextstop, Which is a service focuses on creating beautiful and dead-simple guides of local destinations and hotspots. Nextstop also provides a range of community features such as badges and guide recommendations.

In an announcement on its website they stated:

Nextstop.com will be shutting down on September 1, 2010, but we want to make sure that the amazing guides that Nextstoppers have created live on.

If you are an existing user, you can continue to use Nextstop for the next two months and can use our export tools to export your contributions to Picasa Web Albums, Google Maps, or download a set of PDF or HTML files for your guides. We hope with these options you’ll be able to retain all the work you’ve put into Nextstop guides, albeit in a new form. You must export your guides by September 1.

Additionally, the company plans on releasing their database of places under creative commons in the coming weeks.

Do you think Facebook is taking the location game very seriously through Nextstop acquisition?

Foodspotting Your Online Guide For Delicious Food

Foodspotting: it looks delicious, they recommend it, Then I’ll try….hmmm what I am talking about????
I am not crazy, but that’s the truth… Foodspotting is a visual local guide that makes finding and sharing food recommendations an easy online process.

Foodspotting is a collection of user-uploaded photos of various edible treats and where to find them. Look what you can do:
1. Set your location
2. Then browse items in your neighborhood, and further specify by food type, a place or a person
3. You can also sort by dishes that have received the highest ratings or were most recently added.
4. And you can add friends to keep track of their “food sightings,” and those who contribute to the site can earn points (“tips”) when someone “Compliments,” “Wants,” or “Noms,” an item they’ve submitted.

Sound delicious right :P…And that’s not all Foodspotting is also available as an application [iTunes link] for the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad, making it incredibly easy for someone to post an entry to the site on-location. Thus far, 65,000 foods have been spotted by more than 105,000 users.

Tell me what do you think of Foodspotting…Time to check what’s cooking there see ya..

YouTube New Video Editor “It Is Time For Something Cool!!”

youtube logoIt’s YouTube time to introduce an interesting feature, according to Google-System YouTube has launched a new video editor that lets users create videos using excerpts from the videos they’ve already uploaded. Besides they can also add a music file from the AudioSwap library.
This new video editor is really geared towards individuals who are taking video on a Flip camera or on their smartphones. Editing footage from one of these devices can be a time consuming process to make even just a few simple edits. Oftentimes it’s just easier to upload the video directly to YouTube.

While editing the footage directly in the browser makes the process much faster and can fit in with workflows that might not always include a computer that is capable of running and has access to desktop software. With the New Youtube video editor you can now loop a few movie clips together and trim the intro or outro of this movie.

Here are some videos created using YouTube’s new video editor.

Personally I like the new editor…What about you???
